Artist's Technique and Materials
Baby Chick Designs artwork is designed exclusively by artist Harriet Babchick. Her original designs are drawn and painted in her studio in Houston, Texas. Before starting on a new collection, she decides which medium would best fit the collection, for example, watercolor, pastel, or oils. Her original designs are then scanned using a professional scanner and printed on either artist canvas or fine art paper using archival inks which creates a "giclee" reproduction. Giclee reproductions are the highest quality available today. They last in upwards of 100 years and will not fade.
Baby Chick Designs offers both giclee canvas reproductions (also called canvas wraps or canvas stretched artwork) and giclee fine art prints. Our fine art prints are printed on acid-free fine art paper and will not yellow over time. Our canvas reproductions are made using high grade artist canvas and wrapped around 100% wood stretcher bars. The final product requires no outside frame or glass. They are safe for children's spaces. All canvas reproductions are fully assembled with a wire hanger and our fine art paper prints are delivered UNFRAMED. All personalized growth charts are made using the same "giclee" printing technique and high quality artist canvas. Each comes with 2 top corner grommet holes and a decorative ribbon for easy hanging.
